TRUST
Did you just go through the last exercise thinking there’s no one you can trust to do those things? You may think it’s faster and easier to do it yourself, but does that allow others to grow and develop? It takes time and patience to develop trust in others. If you are striving toward “stewardship delegation” rather than “gofer delegation,” then everyone involved wins. Invest the time teaching, training, and exercising patience now, and the end result will be more time saved in the long run. Refer back to the things you chose to delegate to someone else. What kind of delegation did you assign—stewardship or gofer?
Now, look at your list from the perspective of stewardship delegation. Begin
building trust by offering opportunities for growth. What changes will you make to your delegation?
